Every Look You Need To See From Last Night’s American Music Awards

See the styles that defied Mother Nature

by Jenna Igneri

We must say: It’s been a pretty rough last two weeks, and a night of celebration and music was, without a doubt, much needed. Luckily for us, the American Music Awards took place last night in Los Angeles, serving us with all of the welcomed distraction we needed (in addition to a few Trump jabs). In addition to hosts, Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah, all of the winners, and spectacular performances (including some extra special duets), the fashion also proved to be a cause for some celebration.

Below, we rounded up the ladies that slayed last night’s red carpet. With Mother Nature not on the attendees’ side (seriously, the red carpet flooded just before the celebs began to arrive), the below proved that they could weather any storm. Once again, sheer took reign with everyone from Kat Graham to Tinashe rocking the trend. Of course, we also saw our fair share of glittering rompers, pantsuits, and ball gowns in the mix—as would be expected on any 2016 red carpet.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’ll soon be time to sort through all of those holiday party invites. We'd like to think of the list below as a source of our party look inspiration—chain mail two-pieces and all.

The co-host of the evening, Gigi Hadid, stunned in an off-the-shoulder, tiered lace gown by Roberto Cavalli and a glittering choker.

Sheer, billowing, polka dots—who could ask for more? Our October cover girl Tinashe slayed in Michael Costello.

Selena Gomez was the epitome of class for her surprise return to the red carpet. She wore this simply elegant red ball gown by Prada.

Taraji P. Henson proved that Risky Business can be red carpet-worthy—when it’s Celine, of course.

Ciara absolutely glowed on the red carpet, embracing her baby bump in a stunning long-sleeved turtleneck and voluminous high-low skirt by Stephane Roland.

Ariana Grande and her high-ponytailed glory paired simple white Alexander McQueen trousers with a vintage black lace bustier.

Could Hailee Steinfeld look any more glamorous? The actress and singer wore a glittering caped romper by Elie Saab.

Our June/July cover girl Halsey killed in an all-white belted catsuit.

Julianne Hough was the ultimate ice queen in a baby blue mini skirt and holographic top by Zuhair Murad.

Kat Graham channeled her vampy side in a plunging, sheer caftan gown by Labourjoisie and a killer smoky eye.

What’s better than a pantsuit? A sparkling, glimmering shorts suit by Zuhair Murad, as rocked by Nina Dobrev.

Bella Thorne gave us serious bikini bod envy in an Anthony Franco jacket and Josie Natori pants with nothing but a bikini top underneath. But what we loved most about her look was her twinning hair moment with sister, Dani Thorne.

Keke Palmer took the naked dress to another level, wearing a see-through chain mail two-piece by Natalia Fedner—completing her daring look with a baby pink fur.

Chrissy Teigen rocked quite the daring side slit, with nothing but a single safety pin holding it all together.
