Amy Schumer Issues An Apology To Tampa Trump Supporters

“How could I think it was okay to spend five minutes having a peaceful conversation with someone with different views?”

by Taylor Bryant

In wake of the upcoming election, celebrities have been very vocal about their political preferences. Amy Schumer is just one of many who has made her view of being pro-Clinton, sternly anti-Trump very, very clear.

Earlier this week, Schumer criticized the Republican nominee during a show in Tampa, Florida. After referring to Trump as an “orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster,” she was met with a chorus of boos. Reportedly, around 200 people walked out of the venue. Today, she’s attempting to make peace with those offended in an open letter.

“Dearest Tampa, I’m sorry you didn’t want me, a comedian who talks about what she believes in, to mention the biggest thing going on in our country right now,” she said during a performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City. “How could I think it was okay to spend five minutes having a peaceful conversation with someone with different views?” If this sounds like a backwards apology to you, she makes sure to conclude the letter on a hopeful note. “I look forward to putting this all behind us in a couple weeks, when Hillary Clinton is our motherfucking president!” she said, to rousing applause.

Listen to the full letter below. And please, we beg of you, make sure to vote come November 8.
