If you don't know Chloe x Halle yet, you soon will. Not only have these sisters recently performed for Michelle Obama and landed on the pages of Elle, they're also an act Beyoncé signed to her Parkwood Entertainment label. We'd say that's not a shabby resumé in the least.
Today, the two have dropped their debut video for single "Drop," which is reminiscent of an Oh Land-meets-Lorde kind of vibe.
"'DROP' is very special to us because it was one of the first songs we fully wrote and produced ourselves," the two told FADER about the song. "It gave us the courage to trust our instincts. To see how it was made from our living room, to turning into something much bigger, is super exciting! We’re so happy that we got to do our first video in such a huge way, and we have Beyoncé to thank for that. We love her so much.”
Shot at Big Sky Movie Ranch in California, the same location as Django Unchained and Transformers, the video combines dramatic shots of riding horses at sunset against the two in a field, their hair entangled as a single being. It's simple, but visually stunning, providing the perfect backdrop for the song, which is packed with haunting vocals and chattering percussion. “Don’t stop when the beat drop/it’s too strong,” they sing. We won't.
