There hasn’t been a vocoder intro this good since Daft Punk’s “Doin It Right.” Brooklyn-based Gibbz crafts a lush soundscape on his new track “Love Again” that, yes, employs the vocoder for a solid 40 seconds or so. But it’s good. Like, really good.
“Love Again” is dense with synths that swirl together in a daze. Layers of guitar that build throughout lend themselves to the track’s overall optimistic vibe—a theme Gibbz will carry throughout the forthcoming Chardonnay EP (out July 24). Kick back, press play, and imagine you’re on a beach twirling away. “Love Again” is served best with a little (imaginary) sea salt in the air.
