Since the world-beating success of Bridesmaids, Kristen Wiig has been busy burnishing her indie and acting cred in poignant little movies like last year's The Skeleton Twins. But this summer she'll return to the wacky type of comedy that made her a star, in the caper romp, Masterminds.
In the movie's first trailer, Wiig is joined by Zach Galifianakis in the true story of the largest heist pulled off in American history. Known as the 1997 Loomis Fargo Robbery, Galifianakis plays an armored car driver who teams up with Wiig's character to steal $17 million in cold, hard cash. Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis show up as shady characters who get involved once the money is stolen and things start to go horribly, hilariously wrong. Masterminds was directed by Napolean Dynamite creator Jared Hess, and like that film, this one seems filled with absurd haircuts and slapstick gags. "Brace your boobies," indeed.
Masterminds hits theaters on August 14.
