Beneath all of Lady Gaga’s wigs, makeup, fashion, and theatrics is Stefani Germanotta—and she’s got talent. Not many people need to be reminded of that, but here she is doing just that at the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Gaga—and Gaga alone—took center stage at the Olympic Stadium and performed a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Aside from a tiny bit of fireworks, her flower- and foliage-covered piano were her only theatrics, allowing her voice to steal the show. The Springsteen inflections toward the end packed a serious punch to the feels. To call her performance moving would be an understatement.
More of this, Gaga. More of this.
