And Pantone’s 2017 Color Of The Year Is…

“Greenery”

by Taylor Bryant

It’s the time of the year design and fashion insiders (and wedding planners) have maybe been waiting for: Pantone’s 2017 color of the year reveal. Well, that time is here, and that color is green.

Well, the exact name is “Greenery” or “15-0343” for those who know what those numbers mean. Think: the color of leaves rather than the color of the Starbucks label. “Emblematic of new beginnings, PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore, and renew,” a statement from the company reads. “Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signal us to take a deep breath and oxygenate, leaving us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.”

Last year's colors were Rose Quartz (a baby pink) and Serenity (a calm blue), and we haven’t seen a pick from the green family since 2013 when Emerald was chosen. It’s about time it made a comeback. Just think of all the green-colored things already in your life: that matcha latte you overpaid for, the nonexistent grass outside of your city apartment, those succulents you couldn’t manage to keep alive, all of that money not in your bank account around this time of the year. Nonetheless, we are here for the official year of green. Bring it on.
