Yes! Paramore Is Finally Back With A New Single And Upcoming Album

‘After Laughter’ drops on May 12

by Sydney Gore

Wake up, pop punk is still alive and well! After four years of radio silence (but plenty of Parahoy! cruises), the Nashville-based trio has finally returned with a roaring single fresh off their forthcoming fifth studio album. "Hard Times" is a feel-good, pick-me-up tune that will set the tone for a much-needed vacation.

Be warned, this song leans more on the pop sphere as the beat bounces around with a tropical flare and when the synth kicks in it'll really have you up on your feet and dancing in circles. Wondering how you got here exactly? We're honestly not sure, but don't fight the feeling!

You can definitely tell that all that time away at sea has influenced Paramore, because this track sounds like it would be played on loop at a resort. The accompanying music video is bursting with vibrant colors as the band wanders around cloudy settings.

Based on what we can hear and see so far, we have a strong feeling that this album is a real push toward having fun again. Of course, there's always a dark twist in-between the lines as shown in the opening verse when Hayley Williams sings, "All that I want/ Is to wake up fine/ Tell me that I’m alright/ That I ain’t gonna die."

Not only is the release of a new Paramore album a big deal, but original member Zac Farro is back in the band at last. The album was also produced by Taylor York and Justin Meldal-Johnsen. It would be naive to expect any of this new material to fall back to the noise of Riot!, but we welcome all the changes with open arms. It's good to have you back, Paramore.

After Laughter is loaded with 12 tracks and drops on May 12 via Fueled By Ramen. Fans can pre-order the album here. Stream the single on Spotify and watch the video, below.
