Ruby Rose Made a Short Film About Gender Fluidity

we’re crushing hard

If you've watched season three of Orange Is the New Black, then chances are you can't get Ruby Rose out of your head. The Australian entertainer has become an outright sensation since the show's new season hit Netflix last week, and now a video she made last year has begun circulating online—because it's awesome and pretty much encapsulates what makes her such a compelling figure.

Rose recently told Elle that she doesn't identify with any one gender, saying, "I'm not a guy; I don't really feel like a woman, but obviously I was born one. So, I'm somewhere in the middle, which—in my perfect imagination—is like having the best of both sexes." That sentimement is perfectly encapsulated in Break Free, which features Rose morphing from an exaggerated feminine version of herself—bodycon dress, blonde wig, fake lashes—into her true self, an supernaturally cool androgynous heartthrob from the planet Marry Me. Watch it above and swoon.
