Watch the Breathtaking Trailer For ‘The Revenant’

If you've been wondering why Leonardo DiCaprio has been sporting a wild man's beard as of late, your answer comes in the form of The Revenant, a completely bonkers-looking new movie whose first trailer just hit the web. From Birdman director Alejandro Iñárritu, the movie tells the true story of a frontiersman (DiCaprio) who seeks revenge on those who left him for dead after a bear mauling. Yep. Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson also star in what looks like one of the visceral and electrifying movies we'll see all year—Mad Max without cars.

For his latest trick, Iñárritu, whose idea to shoot Birdman in one seemingly endless take helped win him an Oscar, shot The Revenant only in natural light, which means the cast and crew only had several hours a day to shoot. The results are breathtaking, and look like nothing we've ever seen on film before. Watch it above.
