Alexa Chung Is Bringing The Body Chain Back

Who needs necklaces these days?

Alexa Chung attended a British GQ dinner with her boyfriend Orson Fry on Monday night during London Fashion Week: Men's, and leave it to the fashion muse and designer to present us with a cool, new way to wear a body chain. At first glance, her outfit is fairly simple — an untucked, barely-buttoned soft collar white shirt by Basic Rights and a classic pair of black slacks — so Chung made sure to add an unexpected detail: an embellished body chain from Alessandra Rich.

Rich — an Italian-born, London-based designer — is mostly known for her ready-to-wear dresses and evening gowns worn by celebrities and royals alike, but perhaps her jewelry will soon take off, too. After all, Chung is known sporting accessories that eventually skyrocket in sales and clout. (Case in point: Mulberry bags.)

Usually, we think of body chains as those delicate jewelry pieces that are daintily layered over your swimsuit during a summer vacation, but Chung has given us the sudden inspiration to start ditching our necklaces for, essentially, a crystal-and-pearl studded harness. Though her exact chain is sadly sold out on Farfetch, you can still get a more goth-adjacent version online now. Or, if you're feeling crafty, attempt a total fashion DIY by making a body chain of your very own.
