Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Got Called Out At The Nail Salon For Her Brows And "Mustache"
I relate to this experience so much
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just wanted a manicure to "feel human." Instead, she was served with a critique of her eyebrows and upper lip hair.
In a video shared by Ocasio-Cortez, she sarcastically asked, "Don't you love when you go to the nail salon... and people try pointing out all your insecurities and stuff?" She goes on to retell her experience after showing off her pastel pink manicure. As her nails were getting painted, she says, "The woman's like, 'Your eyebrows are too big for your face,'" following it up with one cutting word, "'Mustache?'" Ocasio-Cortez reenacted her reaction—an open-mouth gasp—before continuing, "First of all, I thought I came here to feel good about myself. Second of all, what if I like my mustache? You ever think about that?"
Reply guys are having fun suggesting this didn't happen, but, like, it totally did; anyone who regularly goes to a nail salon that also offers threading and/or waxing can vouch that this is not entirely unusual. One Twitter user said it best: "All the people in these mentions saying this didn't happen have obviously never gotten threaded before, being brutally roasted is really just part of the experience!"
While it would be great if people kept their opinions about someone else's looks to themselves and no one had this experience, I appreciate AOC for always keeping it real and letting me know that I am not the only who this has happened to.
