8@8: Your Morning Scoop

It looks like Calvin Harris’ next single is going to be hot

by Donna Gibson

Today is...

National Lemon Chiffon Cake Day!

News of the Day:

+ If you loved Calvin Harris’ last single, “Slide," you’re in a for a real treat with his next track. Harris rounded up Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande, and Young Thug for “Heatstroke.” While Harris gave us no other information—no release date, no upcoming album info, nada—he did provide us with the artwork and the credits. For now, we just have to keep our eyes (and ears) peeled.

+ The cheat code to Twitter’s character count is here. Well, not necessarily, but this cool app is a close second. Stormcrow allows its users to type full text—paragraphs long, if need be—and with just the click of a button, the app numbers and separates the text into as many tweets as necessary and publishes them on the user’s Twitter account. Let the ranting and raving commence! The app is available for Apple now in Appstore for $2.99.

+ It costs a cool $126,000 to $147,000 to protect Melania Trump at Manhattan's Trump Tower, and people (whose tax dollars are paying for it) just aren't having it. In fact, a Change.org petition is going around to either send Melania to the White House or at least make sure she's footing the security bill herself. Here's to wishful thinking...

+ D.C.-based Nick Hakim released the visuals for “Bet She Looks Like You," a single from his upcoming debut album, Green Twins. Hakim’s soulful vocals and the cool instruments carry you through a trance perfectly encapsulated in the video. Check it out, below.

+ Austin-based hair care line Verb is teaming up with Urban Outfitters to keep your tresses healthy (and happy) while you travel. The new, sweetly packaged "Travel Kit" includes travel-friendly-sized shampoo, conditioner, leave-in mist, and sea spray for just $24. Of course, as always, all products are paraben-, sulfate-, gluten-, and cruelty-free. The kit can be pre-ordered now or purchased in Urban Outfitters stores starting April.

Deal of the Day:

Adornia's new lariat necklaces have been taking the city by storm. The pieces, which sport phrases such as "Woke," "Nasty," "Gay," and "Fat," have been making statements in support of the all-around socially aware. Just in case you still need a reason to rock one of these beauties, 10 percent of the proceeds from the "Nasty" necklaces are donated to Planned Parenthood. Fashion supporting a cause is always the best fashion statement.

Advice of the Day:

"A diva is someone who is a perfectionist; who does her best in her craft. So if diva means giving your best, then yes, I guess I am a diva." —Patti LaBelle
