beauty queen: atlanta de cadenet taylor

a smokey eye that works for friday morning… AND friday night.

by liza darwin

We get it: there's a definite line between day makeup and "going out" makeup. Night makeup is darker, more dramatic, and much better suited for a dark dance floor than a well-lit office. But at the same time, the concept seems sort of dated, and leave it to Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor to prove it. The model and DJ worked a cat eye during a gig earlier this week that had hints of smokiness and serious lash volume. The look is intense enough for whatever you're doing tonight, but would also totally fly during the daytime. Weekend win-win?

SHADOW IT: Urban Decay Naked2 Palette, $50

This shadow set is pricey, but it's worth it. The multitasking palette (the followup to the original Naked) takes the bold factor up a notch with charcoal grays and matte blacks. Use the taupe or brown color on your eyelid, and then a darker hue for the crease. You can also smudge the dark gray or black onto your bottom lash line for amped-up drama.

FLICK IT: Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner, $16

There's really been no better time to test out Alexa Chung's new Eyeko collab than with this totally Alexa-approved look.

SWIPE IT: Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Washable Mascara, $4.79

Use this tried-and-true classic on you're top and bottom lashes, and then call it a day...or night.
