Brad Pitt And Marion Cotillard Are The Pinnacle Of Old Hollywood Glamour In The ‘Allied’ Trailer

War never looked so good

This morning, it was revealed that Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard's true purpose in life is to costar in a WWII-era espionage romance. That's the only logical conclusion one can draw after watching the new trailer for Allied, their new WWII-era espionage romance.

Pitt and Cotillard star as spies who meet cute over some target practice, fall in love, get married, have a kid, all while trying to assassinate a Nazi bigwig. The movie relies heavily on its two stars' ability to look absurdly good in period garb, which they pull off with ease. They're also naturals when it comes time for them to blow away their enemies with submachine guns. Who knew?

Pitt plays British intelligence officer Max Vatten, who falls for Cotillard's French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour while on a mission to Casablanca. What happens next feels twisty and dangerous like all good spy thrillers, but also steamy and doomed, like all great romances. The movie, which has "Oscar hopes" written all over it, was directed by Robert Zemeckis and hits theaters on November 23. Watch the trailer above.
