Renee Zellweger + Emma Thompson Bring The Charm In The ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ Trailer

What Brexit?

This year's most anticipated sequel doesn't involve men in capes, giant robots, or boy wizards. Instead, the key ingredient in Bridget Jones's Baby, as evidenced by the just-released full-length trailer, is a whole lot of charm.

Renee Zellweger is back as the titular heroine, while Colin Firth returns as her ex, Mark Darcy. As the title suggests, the latest installment of the beloved series involves an unexpected pregnancy, too. The only question is, whose baby is it?

Before rekindling her romance with Darcy, Jones meets a dreamy American played by McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey. That means her child could belong to either of the two suitors, a situation that’s bound to lead to a lot of slapstick hijinks, cascading tears, and, of course, the voiceover confessionals that have become Bridget Jones' trademarks.

And just in case a love triangle between two Brits and an American doesn't satisfy your charm meter, the filmmakers have enlisted the services of Emma Thompson, who’s usually at her best in a British rom-com with a deep bench. Here, Thompson plays Jones' OBGYN, and by the looks of the trailer above, she'll be stealing scenes with the ease of a skilled cat burglar. It's also nice to see Zellweger back on the big screen after an extended hiatus that included some unfair speculation about a change in her appearance.

Bridget Jones’s Baby hits theaters September 16. Watch the trailer, above.
