Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Go Regal in Chanel’s New Short Film
‘reincarnation.’
When you combine a world-dominating supermodel, a Grammy-winning singer/producer, and a timeless fashion house, you can only expect greatness. So it's no surprise that Karl Lagerfeld hand-selected Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams to star in his short film for Chanel, Reincarnation (to be premiered on December 1 at the Métiers d’art collection in Salzburg). The short is soundtracked by a new Viennese-inspired track sung by the pair, called "CC the World," and traces the history of the iconic little Chanel jacket through lavish flashbacks to the Austrian Empire.
This short basically showcases all of Delevingne's talents: acting (she's currently filming the silver screen adaptation of John Green's Paper Towns), modeling (in what seems like her millionth Chanel gig), and singing (which we are completely obsessed with). And with the help and guidance of the illustrious "Happy" singer, we can only imagine how amazing it will be once these three talents come together.
The film unravels through a dream sequence: Gabrielle Chanel (Geraldine Chaplin) is mesmerized by the jacket of her hotel elevator operator (Pharrell) while on vacation in Austria in 1954 and has a vivid flashback of the enchanting Emperor Franz Joseph I (also played by Pharrell) and his lovely wife Empress Elisabeth "Sisi" of Austria (Cara Delevingne) dancing in a grand ballroom. The story also features models Baptiste Giabiconi and Heidi Mount, as well as six-year-old Hudson Kroenig. With a grand, pop-waltz soundtrack and impeccable Chanel styling (a white ballgown! structured jackets! camellias!), the seven-minute-long film is poised to be one royal affair.
