This Is The ‘Carol’ Trailer That Was Banned From TV
because female nudity is too racy?
The Carol commercial that was, apparently, "too hot for TV" is definitely erotic, but is it actually that provocative? Not really.
Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, tells the story of a forbidden and scandalous romance between two women—one of whom was much older than the other—during the 1950s. It's received praise for it's artsy, noir cinematography and, of course, the always incredible acting of Ms. Blanchett.
While the new trailer is far steamier than the one that showed in theaters, with only a glimpse of nudity and a few sexy, whispered words, it's definitely no Fifty Shades of Grey. Some are saying that the banned-from-TV trailer is just another attempt of The Weinstein Company to drum up publicity, which could be the case as the film strives to win the six Oscars it was nominated for this year.
We'll leave you to be the judge of this one, but as far as we're concerned, this trailer would have been just fine on TV screens.
