Courtney Love Turned Selena Gomez’s “Hands To Myself” Into A Grunge Anthem

This is unreal

Courtney Love answered the question of whether she knows who Selena Gomez is this past weekend. Better yet, she answered the question of whether she's a fan of Gomez by taking the mic at GLAAD's Spirit Day celebration and covering Gomez's 2015 single, "Hands To Myself." It was, predictably, not the dance-pop bop we've come to know and appreciate.

Justin Tranter, who co-wrote the song with Julia Michaels, was joined on stage by Love in an unexpected cameo. It's really something else. Zero synths and all percussion and guitar make this, perhaps, the oddest cover of the song to date. Weird is wonderful, though, and that is exactly what this moment is. Remember when Courtney Love covered Jay Z's "99 Problems"? It's like that.

Spirit Day is GLAAD's initiative for the world to "go purple" and stand in solidarity against LGBTQIA bullying while uplifting LGBTQIA youth. Special events were held around the country where many memorable performances, including Celine Dion covering Prince's "Purple Rain," took place. Watch it all go down, below
