Drake Announces New Project ‘More Life,’ Drops Four New Songs On The Eve Of His Birthday
Does he ever sleep?
It's Drake's 30th birthday today, but he's the one dishing out the presents. On Sunday's episode of OVO Sound Round Radio, the 6 God announced that he's going to be releasing a new project in December called More Life. According to Drake, it's not an album or a mixtape. It's a playlist. "I’m off like mixtapes, I want to do a playlist. I want to give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life, so this 'More Life: The Playlist,'" Drake said on his show. "Like I said, dropping in December. All original music from me. You might hear some tunes from the family on there. Just really excited."
To whet our appetites, Drake also dropped three entirely new songs and one remix. While there's no telling which of these might appear on More Life, they're proof that despite his ultra-prolific output over the last year or two, Drake still has bars for days. The three new songs are called "Two Birds One Stone," “Fake Love," and "Sneaking," which features upstart Atlanta rapper 21 Savage. As for the remix, Drake contributed a verse on the relatively obscure U.K. rapper Dave's track "Wanna Know." And, as is tradition whenever Drake plucks your song from the abyss and turns it into an overnight hit, the video surfaced of the exact moment Dave realized his life's about to change.
Meanwhile, Drake elaborated on why he felt it was time to release another collection of songs, just months after his latest album,VIEWS, went triple platinum:
I had a great tour, I had a great summer. And most people would like go probably take a break, but for me, I just want to get right back to it. Be with the people again. Boy Meets World Tour, coming up soon. U.K., I’ll be there soon. Big up to U.K. massive. Everybody—Paris, Amsterdam, Sweden, anywhere we are touching down. But yeah, I just want to celebrate life. More life. That’s what we live by. That’s something we [should] not take for granted.
