Sorry Oscar Isaac, But The New ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer Belongs To Jennifer Lawrence

JLaw is out to save the world once again

The new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse wastes no time in setting up an epic struggle between good mutants and not-so-good mutants. The heroes are led by Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique and James McAvoy's Charles Xavier, and the heavies are headed up by Michael Fassbender's perennially tortured Magneto and the movie's title character, played by a truly unrecognizable Oscar Isaac.

In what is being sold as the final film in the current X-Men trilogy, the stakes couldn't be higher. The immortal, god-like mutant Apocalypse wants to squash humanity like a bug, and the X-Men do not want him to do that. In Screenwriting 101, this is called conflict. A bunch of new faces show up here, like Tye Sheridan's Cyclops and Sophie Turner's Jean Grey (played by James Marsden and Famke Janssen in the original trilogy), but the hero shot belongs to Olivia Munn, whose Psylocke casually slices a car in half while falling through midair because that's just how she rolls. And you'll see once you press play, the movie might have the villain's name in the title, but it really belongs to JLaw, who gets to deliver the movie's big motivational speech in full blue makeup. What a time to be alive.
