Jaden Smith Teaches Us About The Universe And Proves He’s Just As Funny As His Dad

Truly mind-blowing

We originally began chronicling Jaden Smith's brilliance on Twitter back in 2015, and the former NYLON cover star has maintained what we dubbed his "Twitter oracle status" over the last couple of years. But now,Vanity Fair has taken it a step further by having the philosophical entertainer drop some "mind-blowing" facts about the universe on YouTube. Given that he and his sister, Willow claimed to have "unlocked the secrets of the universe" in an interview with the New York Times’ T Magazine in 2014, it makes sense that he would be called upon now to reveal these truths.

The 18-year-old really shows off his comedy skills as he reacts to the "mind-blowing facts" playing in voice-over. His hilarious looks of befuddlement and intermittent questioning of how these things can be true are priceless and very meta. Plus the whole video is also educational. Here are a few things that we learned: "the human brain takes in 11 million bits of information every second, but is aware only of 40," "there are more synapses–nerve connections–in your brain than there are stars in the galaxy," "human saliva contains a painkiller called opiorphin that is six times more powerful than morphine," and "there is a jellyfish that is immortal." The more you know!

Our favorite part has to be when voice-over Jaden says: "On Saturn and Jupiter, it rains diamonds," and on-camera Jaden deadpans: "How?" We're still hoping that he'll publish that philosophy book he was rumored to be working on a while ago—we could really use his insight on how to navigate the world right now. For now, we'll have to settle for copping a bunch of MSFTSrep merch.
