Do you hear that sound? It's the sound of fashionable English majors around the world gasping with delight: Joan Didion, perpetual cool-girl and 80-year-old literary superstar, is the newest face of Céline. The author has always been known for her chic yet effortlessly cool style (in addition to her writing, obviously). The fact that the campaign is shot by legendary fashion photographer Juergen Teller makes this shoot all kinds of perfection. In many ways it’s a return to Joan Didion’s roots: A little known fact about Didion is that she started her writing career at Vogue. 

This campaign is proof positive that a collaboration between a legendary French brand and U.S. literary royalty is a serious match made in heaven. And can we just take a second to muse about those killer oversized shades? Wow.
