Nicole Kidman And Colin Farrell Reunite In The Disturbing ‘Killing Of A Sacred Deer’ Trailer

This definitely isn’t ‘The Beguiled’ though

Director Yorgos Lanthimos brought us the unsettling Dogtooth and the endlessly fascinating The Lobster. He’s following both original films up with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, which has been described as both harrowing and chilling.

The plot is vague if we’re going off of the trailer. The synopsis, though, explains: “Steven, a charismatic surgeon, is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice after his life starts to fall apart, when the behavior of a teenage boy he has taken under his wing turns sinister.” Colin Farrell, who also starred in The Lobster, plays the surgeon, and Nicole Kidman plays his wife. Barry Keoghan from Dunkirk plays the teenage patient, and Raffey Cassidy and Sunny Suljic play Farrell’s children.

In layman's talk, it’s a psychological thriller that will likely leave you with nightmares for weeks to come. If we’re going off of Lanthimos’ past projects, it will follow a bizarre and weird path that might include a couple of uncomfortable laughs. Ellie Goulding’s “Burn” will also never be the same. Watch the trailer, above, to see what we mean. The Killing of a Sacred Deer hits theaters October 27.
