Watch Kim Kardashian In Her First Interview Since The Robbery

She appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Kim Kardashian was held up at gunpoint in Paris last October. She's shared details of the robbery on her reality show, but hadn't talked with anyone else about the horrific event until she appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show today. While talking to Ellen, Kardashian explains what the traumatic experience taught her.

"I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me,” she says. "I'm such a different person… I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things.” She goes on to explain that her values have shifted away from showing off and fawning over possessions. ““I was definitely materialistic before, not that there's anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things. I'm really proud of everyone around me that's successful,” she notes. “But I'm so happy that my kids get this me, that this is who I am raising my kids. I just don't care about that stuff anymore. I really don't.”

Later in the show, Kim also talks about Caitlyn Jenner and her new memoir, The Secrets of My Life. It was a topic on Keeping Up with the Kardashians this week and Kim expands on Kris’ frustrations with the picture it paints of her. “My heart breaks for my mom, you know, because I feel like she’s been through so much and she’s promoting this book and she’s saying all these things,” she outlines. “It’s just so hurtful, I wish her all the success in the world, but not at our expense.”

She concludes, noting that she’ll always have a deep love for Jenner, but that she doesn’t find the book fair or truthful. “She taught me about character and so much growing up and I just feel like I don’t respect the character that she’s showing now.” Watch the full clips above.
