Jenny Slate And Abby Quinn Make Spying Look Chill In ‘Landline’

Love is a sloppy mess

There's nothing funny about an affair, but when Jenny Slate is involved, you know it's going to be a laugh-until-you-cry experience. Slate's latest film, Landline, focuses on the distant relationship between a pair of sisters who are brought together by the discovery of their father's infidelity. The film takes place in New York City and is set during the mid-'90s, so prepare to feel nostalgic for the way things were back then.

Beyond Slate's star turn, Abby Quinn shows that she's one to watch, as she shines as Ali, the rebellious younger sister of the neurotic and newly engaged Dana, played by Slate. Edie Falco, Jay Duplass, and John Turturro also star in the film.

Based on what we see in the trailer, there are a lot of tender moments packed in between all the laughs; think: smoking and crying on the bathroom floor with your mom. (Now that's some beautiful family bonding.) Who knew love could be so messy? (LOL, everyone.)

Landline premieres in theaters on July 21 via Amazon Studios. Watch the official trailer for the dramedy, below.
