Leonardo DiCaprio Hated His ‘Revenant’ Beard

RIP Forever DiCapribeard

Back in September, women everywhere rejoiced when Leonardo DiCaprio emerged from filming his wildness-battling role in The Revenant sans wild-man beard, and with a clean-cut face that resembled the young Leo everyone fell in love while watching and rewinding the Titanic VHS tapes in the '90s.

DiCaprio appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week to talk about the Alejandro González Iñárritu-directed film and his beard. But mostly his beard.

“I don’t think I’ll have a beard like that ever again, unless it’s for a role,” he said of his scraggly face-fur. “It’s hard to maintain. Stuff gets in there. You’re eating and then food falls in.” Whew.

Since DiCaprio was not a fan of saving snacks for later, he relied on his entourage to help him keep his unruly beard clean by giving him the old "there's something in your beard, bro" alert. He also learned the importance of proper shampoo technique. “You have to shampoo it,” Leo explained. “I did put conditioner in it. You do want it to be soft, otherwise it gets like a Brillo pad.”

Watch the clip of DiCaprio on Ellen above and join us in a collective sigh of relief that there's a very, very, good chance the DiCapribeard will never make an appearance again.
