If you're anything like us, you cringe every time you hear that a beloved book series will be turned into a movie. Thankfully, The Hunger Games has managed to make the leap from the Young Adult section to the silver screen sans cringe-worthy cliches and uncomfortable, clumsy scenes. After careful consideration (and many movie marathons), we've concluded that the series' success lies in the score (and, yes, the carefully adapted screenwriting and artistic direction).
So when we heard that Lorde was curating The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, we were pretty psyched, to say the least. And today, one long week after the 17-year-old's Twitter teaser, we finally get to hear the album's lead single, "Yellow Flicker Beat." And it is s o g o o d — full of just enough dark confidence, ominous echoes, and adrenaline-inducing beats to bring us through the uprising.
The full soundtrack comes out November 17. And, surprisingly, we're sure this track will hold us over until then.
