A Bolt From The Blue: M.A.C Joined Forces With Chromat

NYLON has been a longtime fan of NYC-based designer Becca McCharen and her clothing and swimwear label Chromat. So when we learned that the brand—known for melding together tech and athleisure with a futuristic, gender-inclusive twist—was teaming up with makeup mogul M.A.C Cosmetics, to say we were excited would be an understatement.

On top of Chromat’s innovative and revolutionary designs, the brand has built up quite a reputation for producing some of the coolest runway beauty moments during New York Fashion Week, most particularly in the form of pops of the brightest blues and a heavy use of graphic liner. It’s no wonder that when M.A.C partnered up with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund for a new set of collaborations, it joined forces with McCharen to present its first.

M.A.C x Chromat is an eight-piece, pigment-packed collection destined to be your summer favorite, and has all the tools you need to recreate some of the fashion brand's most memorable runway looks. The line features two electrifyingly bold lipsticks in bright red and aqua blue; an eyeshadow palette comprised of six new shades, from smoldering iridescents to neon pops; a metallic navy Technakohl liner; a Longwear Fluidline liner in bright metallic blue; a royal blue mascara; and turquoise blue loose glitter. To top it all off? A small angled brush to ensure your eye makeup is literal perfection.

However, the real winner of the collection is the packaging, which pays homage to Chromat with electric blue, architecturally inspired, 3-d printer packaging. Collector’s items, for sure.
