Embrace Your Inner New Yorker With This New Marc Jacobs Collab

We want bagels

by Bailey Calfee

Marc Jacobs has partnered with artist Ava Nirui for a second collaboration, following the success of their first partnership, a playful commentary on bootleg merch. This time around, Nirui tapped three fellow artists to design a line of hoodies with her—and we want them all.

Nirui’s design offers a play on the “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!” logo, which she has redesigned to say, “I can’t believe it’s not Marc Jacobs!” Her artistic approach often comments on branding and the act of counterfeiting, so her latest collaboration for Marc Jacobs follows in this same vein. The rest of the designs in the collaboration have a similar sarcastic air.

Avi Gold, the founder of Better, created a hoodie to “[pay] homage to his… favorite pairings: bagels and lox,” which features a redesign of the Marc Jacobs logo with a bagel character added for good measure. We can’t name a better duo than bagels and lox, either. Idea Books’ hoodie is a play off of scratch-off lottery tickets, with the question “Is yours a designer hoodie?” Julian Consuegra, the founder of streetwear brand Stray Rats, designed a hoodie featuring some otherworldly characters.

The hoodies are available now at the Marc Jacobs website. See all the pieces from the collaboration, below.
