Miley Cyrus Is Peak Flower Child On New Track “Inspired”

She’s tapped into her country roots

by Taylor Bryant

Miley Cyrus is doing a killer job at rebranding herself. She first hit us with the carefree single “Malibu,” and now she’s giving us pure country pop on her new track “Inspired.”

The singer first performed the song on TODAY last weekend and during Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester benefit concert this past weekend. Now, we have the studio version, and it’s Cyrus giving us her best flower child. In the ballad, she reflects on the easier days when she would run around barefoot and play with her dad in the creek. She also encourages those listening to embrace whatever journey it is they're on. “How can we escape all the fear and all the hate?/ Is anyone watching us down here?” she sings. “Death is life, it's not a curse/ Reminds us of time and what it's worth/ To make the most out of it while we're here.”

The singer will be donating a portion of the proceeds from “Inspired” to her Happy Hippie Foundation to “continue our fight against injustice and bring food, shelter and most importantly hope to homeless youth everywhere," she writes on Instagram. Do you feel inspired yet, or what?
