Ah, the office holiday party. In corporate America, it's the one night a year where you can blow off some steam and get utterly messed up with your coworkers. It's also, on the other hand, a mandatory event and therefore is anticipated with a sense of dread and more than a few sighs. But what happens when your boss decides to take it away from you? Well, you take it all back and approach it in full force. At least that's what happens in Office Christmas Party.
The premise of the story is simple: The CEO of the office's company wants to close the entire branch. In an effort to save their jobs, they rally to throw an epic holiday party in order to impress a potential client, gain their business, and prove their worth. The execution, however, isn't as clean-cut. Starring virtually every name in box office comedy (T.J. Miller, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Courtney B. Vance, Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Karan Soni, and Matt Walsh) and other amazing names like Olivia Munn, Jennifer Aniston, and Abbey Lee, the film basically takes every inappropriate thing that could ever go down in a semi-professional setting, throws some fireworks over it, and sets it ablaze. There are salacious Xeroxes, reindeer, a flying vending machine, choke holds, and an employee swinging down a story to slam into a file cabinet. It's at least 20 lawsuits waiting to happen, and it's a big "fuck you" to the corporate hierarchy.
The film, which is directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, opens this December. Watch the trailer above.
