16 Oscars Looks That Seriously Slayed

the best from tonight’s red carpet

Tonight at the 88th Academy Awards ceremony, Hollywood’s best and brightest gathered at the Dolby Theater in L.A. to honor and celebrate the best in film. Of course, the two hours leading up to the ceremony—the red carpet—are equally as important as the ceremony itself.

When it comes to awards season, we tend to see less risks being taken on the Oscars red carpet than we do at the other award ceremonies. While our favorite stars may be playing it on the safer side, it certainly doesn’t mean the fashion is boring. We can always expect to see our fave celebs in the most elegant and chic couture styles of the season.

This year, it was all about color. While jewel tones made a big appearance on the red carpet tonight, green seemed to be the color of choice. Saoirse Ronan stunned in sparkling, emerald sequins while Rachel McAdams showed some leg in her slit silky green gown. We also refreshing pops of color, such as Olivia Munn’s eye-catching bright orange dress by Stella McCartney and Alicia Vikander’s custom pastel yellow gown by Louis Vuitton—talk about getting us seriously pumped for spring.
