This Is How NYLON Celebrates Pride Month
Each and every day
Here at NYLON, we take pride in sharing stories and starting conversations dealing with intersectionality. We've always known that love is love and gender is fluid. Inclusivity is the name of the game and celebrating our queer brothers, sisters, and non-conforming siblings' experiences is how we play it. With June being Pride Month, we decided it was high time to bring the conversation outside the pages of our magazine and digital platforms and into the real world, engaging with real people in real time.
We took over The VNYL's Black Rose Room with a panel of queer designers, writers, models, editors, and creators for a night focused on the intersection of fashion, entertainment, media, and queerness. NYLON's senior video producer Daniel Huskey moderated the panel that included model and actress Carmen Carrera, model Leyna Bloom, writer Gabby Rivera, Chromat's Becca McCharen-Tran, Discwoman's Yulan Grant, and NYLON's own global editor-in-chief Gabrielle Korn. With Tequila Avión cocktails flowing, Lauren Flax helped bring the audience home with a room-shaking DJ set following the discussion. Pride doesn't begin and end with June. For us, it's every day. Thanks to everyone who came out and tuned in. It's through constant and open dialogues like these that real progress and real equality is made.
