Those zombies never stood a chance

Talk about a grand finale. After five films, the Resident Evil franchise is finally coming to an end. The sixth and final installment, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, picks up right where Milla Jovovich's Alice left off, doing her best to salvage the remaining survivors from the apocalypse brought on by the Umbrella Corporation.

Once again directed by Jovovich's husband Paul W.S. Anderson, the last installment sees Alice returning to Raccoon City for one last shot at saving the human race. Joining Jovovich on her quest to rescue humanity are Ali Larter and Ruby Rose, two post-apocalyptic warriors who, judging by the latest trailer, are up for the challenge.

No one has ever mistaken the Resident Evil movies for anything other than what they are. For 14 years, Jovovich and company have been giving audiences just the right dose of white-knuckle action and girl power to justify six whole movies. Don't let its December 23 release date confuse you. This is not Oscar bait. Instead, it's the grand finale of a series that at it's best, reminds us that girls can totally kick ass when they want to.
