Emma Donoghue’s Room—a bone-chillingly terrifying novel about a young women held hostage as a sex slave in some monster’s backyard shed, told from the perspective of her toddler who is born in said shed—is being made into a movie starring Brie Larson and directed by Lenny Abrahamson. The trailer for it just dropped, and if you feel like maybe never sleeping again, definitely check it out. But worry not: The best-selling novel is known for its relatively uplifting ending, and it looks like the movie will follow the same trajectory.
No spoilers, but if you haven’t read the book, this trailer basically gives the entire plot away. The movie comes out on October 16.
