Soundcheck: The 12 Best Music Releases Of The Week

St. Vincent, Maggie Rogers, and so much more

Every weekend, we bring you#SOUNDCHECK—your destination for the best of the best new music that's just hit the web, because you should always be prepared when someone passes you that AUX cord. This week’s roundup features some of our favorite emerging and established artists, including St. Vincent, Maggie Rogers, Basement and so many more. Turn up, tune in, and tune out.

MassEducation - St. Vincent

Probably the only artist who could re-release an entire album of stripped back covers and have it end up on aggressive heavy rotation. Still crying over "Smoking Section" a year later and not ashamed of it.

"Light On" - Maggie Rogers

Still months away from Rogers' debut album, but this single might help hold us over until then. In it, Rogers confronts her whirlwind rise to fame over the past two years.

Beside Myself - Basement

Basement are basically a rock staple at this point, so their latest album is a must-listen.

"Build" - Justine Sky

You can't build your ideal partner, but as Skye put it in a press release, you can "make sure you’re perfect for yourself," which is definitely something to keep in mind come New Year's resolution time.

"Emotion" - Astrid S

Whistling her way through a shitty breakup, this Nordic pop singer has our hearts.

"Simple Romance" - COIN

The only simple romance here is the love you'll have for COIN after hearing their latest surefire hit.

"Jealous Sea" - Meg Myers

Intense visuals to match an equally intense track, the latest offering from Myers' is sure to give you goosebumps. Also, can we talk about the wardrobe for a sec? I'm obsessed.

"Bad Habits" - Madame Gandhi

Your fave activist-artist is back with a percussion-heavy bop.

"Bells" - The Unlikely Candidates

Is it just me, or do you hear a little bit of emo influence in those vocals?

"Drunk on Halloween" - Wallows

I was sold once I read the title because that's the life I want to be living, but trust me, the track is worth the listen.

"Can't Knock The Hustle" - Weezer

Rivers Cuomo and Pete Wentz in one video? Sign me up.

"Golden Prophet" - Roxiny

This member of the Resistance Revival Chorus is ready for her close up, and her powerful new video is the perfect time to get to know her.
