Well, hello! Lykke Li's back with not one but two songs and a new album to boot. "Deep end" finds Lykke Li infusing her sound with trap beats. It's riveting, to say the least. The distortion is exquisite. Do we love gut punches to the feels that trap us? Yes, we do. Lykke Li's so sad so sexy drops June 8.
"hard rain" - Lykke Li
Our second taste of so sad so sexy continues Lykke Li's foray into electronic R&B, only this time it's more FKA twigs than anything. Sadness has never sounded cooler.
"I Like That" - Janelle Monáe
Monáe's latest from Dirty Computer is a refreshingly honest ode to self love.
"Shades of Blue" - Kelsey Lu
Kelsey Lu makes a soulful return to music with this heart-wrenching track.
"lovely (with Khalid)" - Billie Eilish
Well, here's a duo that's just perfect together. "Lovely" is a sweeping ballad that melts Eilish's tender falsetto with Khalid's honeyed swagger. The title says it all. "Lovely" is, indeed, very lovely.
"Claustra (PAN)" - Eartheater
This avant-garde visual from Eartheater highlights the beauty of graveyards.
"IF" - Alekxandr
New South London artist Alekxandr's second song is born from the words of an ex-boyfriend. Spread over a bed of iPhone clicks and a pounding bass, "IF" is a soul-bearing scorcher of a song made even more impressive by the self-directed video. Intimacy can be such sweet sorrow. Alekxandr's debut EP, LITTLEKING, is due out at the end of May.
"Queendom" - AURORA
Oh, y'all wanted a queen, huh? Well, here's your new one: AURORA, who invites you into her ethereal world of self-empowerment and imagination with "QUEENDOM." Fuck a kingdom, right?
Church Of Scars - Bishop Briggs
It's finally, finally here! Bishop Briggs' debut album has dropped and man, was it worth the wait. The power of Briggs' voice is unparalleled. Her biting take on the highs and lows of life is as captivating as it is refreshing. Take us to church, Bishop.
"All I Wanted" - Daughter
Daughter's frontwoman Elena Tonra's heavenly vocals on this brooding track will whisk you, quite literally, to a holier place.
