Peter Parker Gets Busted In This New ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Clip
It’s not easy being a teen superhero
Anticipating that the majority of the audience for last night’s MTV Movie and TV Awards would be teens, Marvel used the opportunity to emphasize that the new Spider-Man was just like them. Or, so it seems, from the message of this brand-new clip from the upcoming blockbuster Spider-Man: Homecoming that premiered at last night's ceremony. It shows Tom Holland as Peter Parker sneaking into his own bedroom through the window and using his superpowers to help him go undetected. (In a very clever moment, Spidey uses his webbing to close the bedroom door quietly.) But while his Spidey sense might help him detect nearby trouble, it doesn’t tip him off that his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) is already waiting for him in his room. This leads to a great exchange between the two friends that hints at both the humor and humanity that this new version of Spider-Man is going for.
Marvel honcho Kevin Feige famously said that Spider-Man: Homecoming will be like a John Hughes movie, and based on this clip he seems to have delivered on that promised. At the end of the clip, we also get a glimpse of Zendaya’s mystery character and her relationship with Peter, which looks sarcastic and note-perfect. Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7 (had to). Watch the new clip below, which is followed by the full trailer.
