Get A Glimpse Of Penélope Cruz As Donatella Versace In New ‘ACS’ Teaser

FX has aired its most recent trailer for the second installment of true crime anthology American Crime Story. The new season, titled The Assassination of Gianni Versace, will feature Penélope Cruz as Donatella Versace (Lady Gaga was previously rumored to take on the role), Italian fashion icon and sister to the late Gianni. As the name implies, it will focus on the 1997 murder of the renowned Versace founder and designer at the hands of Andrew Cunanan. 

Exuding the somber feel of the first preview, this newest glimpse shows Cruz, as Donatella, kissing the steps where her brother was killed to an appropriately mournful tune before ascending the steps of his Miami Beach mansion. Those behind the production have vowed to approach the tragedy with the utmost respect, and that includes Cruz. "This is a delicate story, because I’m playing someone who is alive, someone who lost her brother in a horrible way, and someone who still misses him very much 20 years later," she told Harper's Bazaar earlier this month. "I did it with all my love."
