Suki Waterhouse Gets Her Arm Chopped Off In This Exclusive Clip From ‘The Bad Batch’

In theaters and on demand June 23

It is some time in the future. America has taken it upon itself to rid its society of those it deems irredeemable. The government rounds up these supposed bad people and dumps them into a wasteland where cannibals roam free. Did we mention they’re hungry?

That’s where we find Arlen, the lead character in Ana Lily Amirpour’s post-apocalyptic fantasy The Bad Batch. In this exclusive (and disturbing) clip which we’re premiering here, Arlen, played by model Suki Waterhouse making her acting debut, is seen chained to some wreckage. A woman injects her free arm with what we’re assuming is some kind of anesthetic because the next thing we know, she grabs a saw and chops the whole thing off. Set to Ace of Base's classic "All That She Wants," it’s a pivotal scene in the film, which hits theaters, On Demand, Amazon and iTunes on June 23. Before you know it, Arlen will lose a leg, too. Like we said, these cannibals are hungry.

This hallucinatory horror love story (shout-out to Jason Mamoa, wherever you are) is Amirpour’s follow-up to her acclaimed debut, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, and last month the director told us that the idea for The Bad Batch came from one image “of a girl who had her arm and leg chopped off and was bleeding in the middle of the desert, in the middle of nowhere, but she was alive, and she was gonna fucking claw her way out and survive, because at the time that’s how I felt.”
