The Curator: Jackie Yaeger, Newsletter Manager + City EditorThe News: Cold War Kids Tickets On Sale Today!
You might have already heard that indie rockers Cold War Kids have a new single out ( "All This Could Be Yours"--and yeah, it rules) and that they have announced their upcoming tour dates. So what does all this have to do with today's checklist? The fact that tickets to their tour stops in your city this fall go on sale at 10 AM (local times)! So, yes, that does mean you should drop everything and set your alarm now so you don't miss the chance to scoop up your pair. Click here to get them! The Look: A Vespa Covered in Ribbon is the Best Accessory
I'm not totally sure why I think a Vespa covered in metallic and pink-hued ribbon would be a great thing to ride around in Paris and not in Brooklyn, but I just do! I imagine myself in long overalls, with a striped T-shirt underneath, and with my hair flowing in the Parisian breeze as I ride this bad boy down the city's cobblestoned streets. So, thanks Geronimo Balloons for posting this photo to your Instagram, I am admittedly a little bit jealous that I didn't see this myself (but maybe it's for the best--vroom vroom!).
The Face Chanel Rouge Coco Ad Campaign - Summer '10Ever since I first saw this campaign back in NYLON's March '10 issue, it became one of my favorite ads of all time. I ripped it out (sorry, NYLON!) and hung it on my wall for years. It gave my makeshift wallpaper from magazine cutouts and band posters an air of dreamy French beauty that it was missing. To this day, when someone asks me my favorite print ad, this is the first thing I think of. That's why I was also super excited to find an entire feature on Chanel's Rouge Coco photoshoot starring model and actress Vanessa Paradis in the Katy Perry issue of NYLON March '10. The best part? You can still scoop up Rogue Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in 34 different shades!
The Inspiration: Taylor LaShae's Instagram (@taylorlashae)
Actress Taylor LaShae is basically my life inspiration right now. From her black-and-white Tumblr site, where she posts gorgeous photos--as well as answers questions from fans, to her Instagram account, which features LaShae in the most incredible outfits and photographed by her extremely talented friends, I am utterly obsessed. Whether she's tucked a see-through blouse into a pair of ripped denim jeans, rocking a striped long-sleeved baseball tee with a cap, or sporting an embellished crop top with beaded fringe, this It Girl always looks good. Oh, and with over 1,300 posts on her Instagram account, you'll basically have enough inspiration every day for the next four-ish years (you're welcome).
The Song: "These Days" - Nico
It turns out my checklist comes with a dreamy, European, feminine theme--so why not stick to it for my song of the day? This time, you should totally stream "These Days" by German singer-songwriter, model, and actress Nico. The '60s beauty queen and friend of Andy Warhol fits perfectly with my checklist, and so does this track off The Velvet Underground's debut record featuring the musician, The Velvet Underground & Nico.
