Disclaimer: A lot of The Last Five Years' trailer consists of singing. Like, a lot. Even if that's not necessarily your thing, we suggest you keep watching because the movie, a screen adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s Off-Broadway hit, looks damn good.
Structured around Jamie Wellerstein (Jeremy Jordan) and Cathy Hiatt's (Anna Kendrick) relationship, the story explores the start and collapse of a marriage almost entirely through song. Told through two different perspectives—Jamie's and Cathy's—and two different timelines—Jamie starts the story at the beginning and Cathy moves backwards—the film "all just feels like vignettes," Kendrick told Entertainment Weekly. And judging by the film's trailer and its success on the film circuit, we'd say that it all somehow works. Watch below and judge for yourself.
The Last Five Years will be released in theaters and VOD February 13.
