Our Favorite Beauty Looks From The VMAs
Glitter roots, vampy lips, and pierced hair—oh my!
Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards were definitely filled with some spectacular performances, note-worthy moments, and some out-of-this-world fashion. However, while we were obsessing over some of the outfits we saw strutting down the red carpet, we also spotted some of the coolest makeup looks that are certainly worth making note of.
A few of our favorite fall runway beauty trends hit the carpet this time around—from Ariana Grande’s crimped ponytail taking cues from Gucci and Vanessa Seward to Halsey’s vampy lip that we saw just about everywhere. And if you haven’t already caught on, pierced hair is going for sure about to be the next big thing—just ask Chloe and Halle Bailey.
While some of these may be a bit more translatable into real life—like Justine Skye’s gorgeously glowy makeup and Amber Rose’s bold red lip, we’re definitely feeling inspired by all (especially, Cassie’s neon yellow hair).

Halsey’s vampy, dark lips really popped against her barely-there white jumpsuit.
We love Ariana Grande’s bangs addition to her signature high pony—and hold on, is that a little crimping we see?
Zara Larsson shows us that the “wet hair look” works for more than just the runway.
Tinashe. And. Those. Lashes.
Alicia Keys wore absolutely no makeup and looked absolutely gorgeous.
Naomi Campbell shows us all how to rock a glitter lip like a pro, using Pat McGrath's latest creation.
Justine Skye’s glowy makeup and slicked-back hair was simply stunning.
Cassie is literally a ray of sunshine, with neon yellow hair and golden, glowy eye makeup.
We can’t get enough of JinJoo Lee’s stunning dark gray/lavender hair color, especially with those super sleek bangs.
Joan Smalls proves that being matchy-matchy with your makeup can work. She wore eye shadow the same shade as her crop top, and it looked bomb.
Chloe and Haley Bailey take red carpet beauty to a whole other level with the craziest piercings—from their noses to their hair.
Winnie Harlow keeps her hair big and her makeup simple under a jeweled, beaded veil.
Tove Lo proves that red carpet beauty doesn’t have to be polished to look good.
Holland Roden added a hint of sparkle to an all-white look by rocking subtle glitter roots and a plum lip.
If you’re going to wear mirrored shades on the red carpet, pair them with a bold red lip like Amber Rose.
