It’s almost time to rejoin Hannah Horvath and her gang of frenemies for the sixth and final time, as the last season of Girls arrives in just over a month on February 12. In the latest trailer, it looks like Dunham is finally ready to acknowledge the constant knock on the show: That the four girls at its center don’t even really like each other. “You’ve made so many wonderful friendships,” Elijah tells Hannah at one point before they both burst into laughter at the absurdity of that statement. “That’s not a thing,” he says. It isn’t in the world of Girls.
The trailer also hints at other developments in the lives of our protagonists. Desi and Marnie are back together and as obnoxious as ever, especially because it’s behind Ray’s back. Shoshanna is freaking out, probably at the prospect of starting a potentially life-changing job, Jessa and Adam got some very good news, and Hannah is learning how to surf, after pitching an article about it to an editor played by Chelsea Peretti. In typical Girls fashion, it's filled with highs and lows, moments of agony and ecstasy. One wonders which end of the spectrum the series will end on. We'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, watch the trailer above.
