The much talked-about Deadpool trailer that rocked Comic-Con has finally hit the web, and it lives up to the hype. This is a different kind of Marvel movie, and Ryan Reynolds is playing a different kind of superhero. Unlike his more noble counterparts, Reynolds' Deadpool is an acerbic, foul-mouthed mercenary who doesn't mind blowing (or chopping) a dude's head off should the situation call for it. To get a sense of the movie's tone, the trailer is set to Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop," which aligns it more with winky comic book movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Kick-Ass, than with heavy morality eepics like The Dark Knight or The Avengers. This movie looks so meta that at one point Reynolds' character even makes a reference to the actor's failed bid for superhero stardom in Green Lantern. We're in.
Deadpool hits theaters on February 12.
