Taylor Swift’s Beauty Evolution, From Country Girl to A-List Icon

When Taylor first came on the scene, she wore her hair in wild, curly ringlets.

The next year, Taylor’s curls were still strongly intact and she styled them with the trifecta of a side part, side bangs, and a side pony tail.

For the memorable, 2008 “Imma Let You Finish” MTV VMAs, Taylor’s hair was smoothed into a sweet updo with curly tendrils. She also paired a bright red lips and a perfectly matched manicure.

By 2010 Taylor’s tight curls were totally gone. At the American Music Awards she tried out a sleek, straight style with full blunt bangs.

Taylor leaned into old Hollywood style with a wavy faux bob and more importantly black liner and cherry red lipstick– elements that would become staples of her makeup style.

In a rare hair moment without bangs, Taylor wore an upswept bun and paired the hairstyle with soft eye makeup and peachy lipstick.

The next year the Grammys, Taylor wore her honey blonde hair in an intricate, braided updo with her strong signature cat-eye liner.

Taylor chopped her hair into a shoulder grazing lob in 2014 and often wore the style in tousled waves. At the VMAs she also wore shimmery blue shadow and fuchsia lipstick to complement the playful vibe.

Taylor styled her lob almost completely straight with side bangs and matched her eye shadow to her aqua dress at the 2015 Grammys.

Many were shocked when Taylor chaired the Met Gala with punky platinum blonde hair and almost-black, aubergine lipstick.

In a return to form for Taylor, she wore her once again ashy blonde hair in a messy updo with rosy pink lipstick at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.

Taylor looks her most Taylor with eyelash-skimming bangs, winged liner and meticulous red lipstick.

In 2020, Taylor tried out a more mod makeup look with winged liner and extra wispy lashes on her upper and lower lashlines.

Feeling her Folklore and Evermore moment at this year’s Grammys, Taylor wore her richer dark-blonde-nearly-brown, hair in a cottagecore-inspired updo and sunkissed makeup.
