This Japanese Makeup Brand Wowed Our Beauty Editor

Allow me to introduce you to your new favorite makeup brand.

by Irma Elezovic

After over a decade in the beauty industry, I’ve seen countless trends come and go, testing more products than I can remember. These days, it's rare for something to truly capture my attention, but when it happens, I can’t help but share the excitement. That’s exactly how I felt when I discovered ADDICTION TOKYO, a Japanese makeup brand with 15 years under its belt. For the first time in a while, I found myself genuinely impressed. Because of the recent launch in the United States, I had the opportunity to try the products, and everything from the high-quality formulas to the sensorial textures and the vibrant shades exceeded my expectations.

The brand's ethos is rooted in self-discovery and celebrates the unique artistry within each individual. Since inception, every product has been developed in collaboration with makeup artists, ensuring colors, textures, and performance are always meticulously crafted to meet the highest standards. This dedication shines through in their best-selling eyeshadow, which is available in 99 shades and 6 different finishes, allowing you to layer, mix, and match your look with endless possibilities.

The brand’s Global Creative Director and acclaimed makeup artist, Kanako Takase, finds inspiration in her extensive travels around the world and the different cultures she encounters. The fall ‘24 collection is a tribute to the exquisite craftsmanship of the 18th century Italian embroidery — and trust me, it’s every bit as stunning as it sounds. The standout piece is the The Eyeshadow Palette, available in 12 color variations that allow for endless creative looks. Infused with the brand’s innovative Skin Melt Technology, each powder is coated with oil ensuring the eyeshadow blends onto the skin with an effortless and smooth application. The result? A striking yet timeless look with every swipe.

Take a look at the colorful monochromatic look I created below, and explore each product I used to bring it to life.

Get The Look

For my look, I reached for The Eyeshadow Palette in Heirloom Jewel and started with the top right nude as my base. Then, I blended the bottom right deep plum shade across the center of my lids to add some depth. To finish, I tapped the bottom left sparkly orange into the inner corners of my eyes for that extra pop of brightness.

Next, I applied The Liquid Eyeliner Pearl in Cinnamon Amber, a gorgeous orange-gold shimmer, to create a modern version of my classic winged eyeliner. The color is so vivid, and the shimmer added a warm, glowing dimension that really made my eyes pop.

I used The Gel Eyeliner in Bloody Berry, a deep berry color to waterline and tightline my eyes. The rich pigment gave my eyes extra depth and definition, making them look more intense without smudging throughout the day.

To complete my monochromatic eye look, The Mascara Color Nuance WP in Ruby Plum was the perfect finishing touch. The rich plum color on my lashes brought everything together and really made my blue eyes pop.

I went with The Blush Matte in Wild Ginger, a warm terra cotta, and applied it to my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose. It gave me a sun-kissed glow that perfectly complemented the orange tones in my eye look.

I applied a few coats of The Lip Balm Soft Matte in Slow Morning, a soft apricot beige, to complete my monochromatic look. The layered color added the perfect touch, bringing everything together seamlessly.

Using my fingertips, I gently applied The Glow Stick in When The Sky Is Gold, a beautiful gold-beige, to my cheekbones and the tip of my nose. The warmth of my hands helped blend it seamlessly, creating a subtle, radiant glow.
