The Best Met Gala Beauty Looks Were All About Excess
"Camp" may have been the most exciting theme yet
Arguably the most anticipated red carpet of the year is the Met Gala. And ever since 2019's theme, "Camp: Notes on Fashion," was announced this past October, we were certain that this year's big event was going to bring out some of the wildest and most outrageous looks we've seen in some time.
We were right. Tonight, was all about excess. From crystal-embellished and glitter-glazed eyelids, to gigantic hair and floor-length braids, to fantasy lashes of all sorts, the stars were nothing short of exaggerated—in the most glorious way possible.
Below, we rounded up some of the most epic looks of the evening. Feast your eyes on the best of camp beauty, below.
Lupita Nyong'o always serves us major looks at the Met Gala, but tonight's hair pick-adorned afro and glitzy lids might be her best look yet.
We are not worthy of Ciara and her glorious hair.
Sophie Turner took the sleek, slicked-back look to the next level by dousing it in glitter.
Priyanka Chopra, or the Queen of Hearts?
We never thought we needed the Prada padded headband until we saw Lily Collins wearing one (and a bunch floral hair adornments).
Good evening to Yara Shahidi's dramatic eye design and no one else.
Gigi Hadid was channeling the late Night King with these feathery white lashes.
Elle Fanning's nails may not be functional, but they sure are perfect.
Lili Reinhart is giving us major Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette-meets-punk rock vibes.
That hair! Those lids! Zoe Saldana was perfection.
Madelaine Petsch's neon pinkeyes popped against her mint green dress.
Paloma Elsesser opted for this gorgeous, vibrant eye look-and-topknot combo.
Natasha Lyonne ditched her curly bangs for these retro waves and smoked-out eyes.
Kristen Stewart matched her eyebrows to her neon orange hair for this anime-inspired look.
Is there anything more glorious than Billy Porter from tonight's carpet? I mean, really.
Lady Gaga may have had a number of red carpet outfit changes, but this glorious beauty look stayed consistent: her version of the foiled eyelash trend.
Laverne Cox's getup might have felt dark and mysterious, but beauty-wise? She was a literal ice queen, rocking crystal blue lids that matched her slicked-down hair.
Ashley Graham took home the award for best ponytail with this Gucci x Dapper Dan look. And can we talk about this green liner?
Awkwafina looked regal AF when she matched her sequin-covered lids to her golden, ruffled gown.
Charli XCX complemented her stunning yellow gown with a smoldering pink eye look and fiery red hair tips.
Lucy Boynton was an ethereal fairy princess with icy blue hair and crystal-embellished eyes.
Tessa Thompson is the definition of braids for days.
