How To Decorate Your Apartment Like Every 'Big Little Lies' Home

Ahead of the show's Season 2 premiere

As fans of Big Little Lies know, the Jean-Marc Vallée-directed first season didn't skimp on mesmerizing shots of California's Monterey and Big Sur. When not showing picturesque waterside landscapes though, our screens were filled by the equally magnetic leading women—played by Reese Witherspoon (Madeline), Nicole Kidman (Celeste), Shailene Woodley (Jane), Laura Dern (Renata), and Zoë Kravitz (Bonnie)—and the impeccable, yet very different (much like the characters themselves), homes they inhabit.

If you identify strongly with one character or another, why not take that to the next level and decorate your apartment to channel their home? Ahead of Big Little Lies' Season 2 premiere this Sunday, check out our tips for making your home more like that of your favorite character and shop the decor inspired by the show, below.

Jane Chapman

While Jane's home is meant to look like one put together on a more limited budget—she's a young, single mother who works as a part-time bookkeeper in an affluent neighborhood—it still exudes the charm and quirkiness of someone who scours flea markets on the weekend for fun. Pops of color—seen in the green wall paint, bold pillows, and red seating—warm up the space, as do vintage touches like an ornate frame on a bookshelf and a boudoir-like floor lamp by the window.

Madeline Mackenzie

The majority of scenes at Madeline's home are held around the kitchen table where a variety of bowls, chargers, plate settings, and kitchen tools—like the bright green colander, wood salt and pepper shakes, and baskets—take center stage. Decor pieces like candles (housed in glass cloches), mismatched throw pillows, and decorative mirrors round out the other rooms.

You will be hard-pressed to find a kitchen utensil that's not a wine glass or a chip and dip dish. Celeste Wright

HBO

Celeste's home, shared with her abusive and controlling husband, exudes masculine-leaning energy with a lot of wood and metal furniture pieces. It makes the whole uncanny valley thing even more uncanny

Early critiques of The Lion King have already noted the uncanny valley aspect of the computer-generated animals, and they are not wrong. It's hugely distracting—and the addition of an A-list cast voicing those animals makes it even worse.

We talk to the stars and creator about the show's iconic first season

Veronica Mars is a show that's had more than nine lives over the course of its 15-year run. What began as a teen drama about a young girl-turned-private investigator digging into the mystery of her best friend's murder, has evolved into a universe filled with complex characters, twisting story lines, and a cult following more than happy to go along for the extended ride.
